Physical Education and Sport Funding

Please read the information below which gives details of our Physical Education and Sport Grant and how we allocate the funding.

The government in England is providing funding  to academic years to provide additional substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of physical education and sport for all their children.

Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual school Census in January 2019. All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus an additional premium of £10 per pupil.

The funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on Physical Education and Sport provision in schools. The money has to be spent on improving the provision of Physical Education and Sport. They will have the freedom to choose how they do this.
